The sights of EBC Trek day 2 were similar to day 1, with more of the same suspension bridge crossings, turquoise rivers, and white peaks in the background.A few of these bridges are downright epic, and after you do a few of them they’re not scary anymore, just fun to cross.
On day 2 you also spend more time walking uphill. It can be exhausting at times, especially as you start to feel the effects of altitude more strongly.
One of the trekkers in Namche at our lodge for the night was throwing up from apparent altitude issues, but most of us seemed to be doing OK throughout the day.
The main difference on day 2 is that you get closer to the peaks, finishing the day with an epic view of Kongde Ri peak stretching up over the village of Namche Bazaar.
I love this view, and the best part is that you get to see it two days in a row.
I felt a little lightheaded by the time I reached Namche, but not too shabby.
My lodge in Namche (Hotel Sherpa Village & Restaurant) was also much better quality than the one in Benkar (Hotel Waterfall), so that helped a lot.
In Namche Bazaar I was happy to see loads of restaurants, shops, and accommodation. This is a bigger village that serves as the capital of all the treks to EBC and beyond.
The lodges are still unheated, but not bad at all. Happy camper here.
